ive had to deal with small claims before on an issue, its simple and doesnt take long. but the judge said she will go over the info and we will get a decision in the mail.

IT TOOK 4 MONTHS to finally get the decision in the mail.. getting the money is another issue, its a cluster **** i will not want to deal with again..

Well that's a relief... Still a pain in the butt, having to take time off work and all, but it seems to me like it's a fairly open and shut case. I have photos of the damage, photos of what the calipers looked like before the damage, and the shop already admitted to letting the brake fluid run all over them. Simple textbook negligence if you ask me.

Yeah. You should read up a bit on small claims court. Its designed for the person to represent their self and be economical with a timely decision. Most of them have limits. I think alot are 3k. You need to research the regulations for your states. Some states have regulation against lowering your price to fit into small claims. For example your brake dmg is 3200 and the court max is 3k so you ask for 2900, it is illegal in some states. Small claims is almost always awarded in favor of the person sueing, especially in corporate situations, as that is what it was designed for, the consumer. Just note, it is civil not criminal.
