Cams before Tune???

So I have a Evo 9 MR with FPRed, 3.5 inch Intercooler, piping, 3 inch o2, 3 inch exhaust with test pipe, 12500cc injectors, stock BOV, 255 wally, ported exhaust mani, ported intake mani and e85 tune. My question is if I install cams before I get it retuned will the car run ok, in terms of daily driving. I know it wont make more power until properly tuned but it could be a week or so before I get it tuned. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

It depends on how aggressive the cams are. close to stock cams like the s1 i would say won't be a problem but s2 s3 will probably have some idle issues and possibly drivability.

ur question is kind of funny. yes you WANT to install cams before you tune it. not tune and then install the cams, thats a waste of tune time. if everything is timed and installed right, you should be fine driving around normally. stage 2 cams have pretty aggressive idle, I wouldnt go WOT without a tune.

Sometimes shops will give a discount on cam install and tuning. or that was how it was with one of the shops i went to.

I think he meant, should he wait until the point for tuning to install cams or is it ok for him to install them before

I had put in gsc s2 cams in before my tune but did not drive it except to cbrd to get tuned. The idle and driving it sucked.. so if you go with an aggressive cam i recommend not driving it until the tune.

What duration are the M2's? I noticed 272's aren't as lopey as 280's at idle making drive-ability much easier.

how much hp do you foresee getting with the M2's after a tune?

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah I'll hold off on installing until I get ready to take it and tune it. As for HP after tune, I'm not sure. Probably too much for a stock block. I'll prob have to turn the boost down and get the tq as close to 400 then stop until I build the motor.

My M2's are pretty mild at idle unless I specifically tune them to lope, you shouldn't have any trouble if you do decide to install beforehand.

+1... You should be fine driving like granny, and WOT is a definate NO NO. But, all Evo's are trully different; It's crazy that 2 of the same year make and model Evo's with exactly the same mods can act completely different.
