Bouncing idle, and metallic rattle
But did that do anything for the rattle? Because my 8 has been making a small metallic clinging like the video you posted, but only under moving acceleration and if the car is rattling from bumps. It sounds almost as if you put a tiny pebble in a metal pipe like the intake or the uicp (obviously thats not what it is). And I'm almost positive its coming from the engine.
Mine is loud. Windoes up or down, I still hear it. Seems to come from the drivers side, and have checked if anything is rubbing. So clapms, etc are rubbing. Seems to tick at around 2200 RMP and above. Moving or non.
it does sound like the metallic sound has stopped, and the EGR solenoid was located on the firewall near the passenger side, so i am wondering if it was making a weird noise when it was actuating.
i do think i know of the sound you are hearing though. i have a different weird metallic rattle while the engine is running (moving and not), but dont think its coming from the engine... maybe it is though?? sounded at first like it was coming from my dash but i havent been able to locate it.
the 2 sounds are completely different to me though.
the one i was worried about (which sounds like its gone) sounds like its rubbing/bouncing extremely fast, like a whirling sound almost, oscillating at 500hz or more.
the 2nd sound it just annoying. sounds like a loose metal clip bouncing on another piece of metal like 5 times a second. tink, tink, tink, tink...
was less worried about this one since it didnt sound critical to the engine, and i only heard it while in the car, whereas i could hear the other one while the hood was up in the garage.ill see if i can get the annoying one on video.

Evo VII with fully built bottom end with Carrillo rods and Buschur JE pistons, Kelford 272 cams, Kiggly HLA, PTE 1200 injectors, Perrin intake, EGR deleted, etc.
No boost leaks. Already checked injectors on cleaning machine, changed throttle body for a IX one with a newer ISCV, checked plugs, installed a COP system and nothing made a single change on idle.
Things I haven´t done yet:
-Clean/change MAF;
-Check brake booster;
Yesterday I got me thinking if bad lifters would cause that.

inside the cab, i do still have a small rattle, but it only happens when hitting bumps, i think the reason i was hearing it while sitting still in the last few weeks was becuase of my extremely rough idle. it would shake the car, which would make the thing rattle in my cab.
tried to ID it this morning... pretty sure its coming from the driver's side backseat door. probably just a loose clip or something.
I'm having similar problem for like a year and mine is evo ix, mostly stock, before hi-cam and after hi-cam, before tuned and after tuned, it still remained.
AC ON
-When come to a stop, put gear to neutral or just press clutch, and the idle will drop till 200 then goes back up to 1.2 and 1k (default idling). Sometimes it will drop till 200, then go to 1k, and slowly increase to 1.5k.
-During stop, gear neutral, hand brake engaged, the idle will fluctuating around 200k-1.2k, and goes back normal after few second.
AC OFF
-none of it will happen
Have checked:
IAC- Check on the valve, working good, clean it. But didn't fix the problem.
No vac leak, no loose IC piping/hoses.

mine seems to be coming from my driver side back seat door... but who knows
