how good is the stock pcv
how good is the stock pcv
im putting together a catch can setup. i read the pressure issue thread already but didnt see anything about the pcv. im trying to decide if i should keep the pcv or ditch it and cap off the intake manifold.
if the stock pcv isnt rock solid then it makes no sense to use it... so is there an upgraded check vale that i can put in its place.

are you planning to use a vented catch can? if so, then you can ditch the pcv. the stock pcv is pretty reliable, but if you plan on recircing back to the intake manifold, then I would run another check valve between the catch can and intake manifold. kynar check valves work well.
With plenty of miles on my car, I thought it was time to replace my pcv valve. I picked up a new one from Advance Auto only to find I could blow through it both ways - took it back for a refund and replaced the stocker which was working fine.
