A turbo timer does what the individual can do on their own and just as well if not better. Eventually the tt will fail just as all devices do.

I can't run a straw and blow into it to increase boost pressure the way a larger turbo can and I can't swat away rocks etc. to protect the finish the way clear film can but I can control how I drive the last 2 or 3 miles of my drive to duplicate what the tt does.

I have no enemies at any particular company. I'm just pointing out in my "old coot" way that there are things that will give more results for the money. I guess I just do it in an older and more direct way.

Ok, I just wanted to understand your position better. Turbo timers are like cruise control, it does something you can do yourself, but it's just convenient. They're not necessary.

I had an 88 mazda 323gtx w/ turbo timer. never failed. always worked. If you dont need one then fine. Saying something negative about people who DO have them says something about yourself, really. Some of us drive hard right up to our doorstep . Some of us let our wives drive our car and they may not remember to cool down. Great thing about modern turbo timers.. you can set them to a nice short time or long. For me, $100 is not a big deal for peace of mind, and I can even.. TURN IT OFF. I don't like stickers on my car; it doesnt go any faster. But if other people want to do it, then that's just great. TO EACH HIS OWN. (or her).

I should get mine today. I got the Blitz cuz of the separate display you can mount unobtrusively.

Just a side note to this thread.....

It's nice to see replies to people purchasing these rides! I'm a bit of a lurker right now .... on the outside looking in. I'm looking for my next ride and the EVO 8 is definitely near the top of the list. Anyone who just bought one consider anything else? What was the capper?

I think a lot of people would agree that getting an aftermarket BOV is unnecessary unless you are increasing the boost by a fair amount. If I were you, I'd spend my first $$'s on an exhaust, a K&N drop in filter and some samco intercooler hoses. Then I'd get a boost controller of some sort....then get the ecu tuned. That will get you a good hp bump for less than $2k.

SC~ who thinks TT's are unnecessary also...but doesn't frown on people who have em.

Yea I plan to do that....I like to go to "deals gap" alot and my RSX got chipped up alot. So this car I plan to get that 3M paint gaurd. Does the EVO chip up real easy or something? ohhh and I hope my dash does not start to raddle....I hate that. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!!!
