How important is the undertray?

I was curious to know how important it is to drive the the plastic undertray that is attached to the front bumper?

Most of my driving is on highway/local roads and I am in Atlanta, where it does not snow that often during the winters.

Thanks in advance!

It does help support the bumper edges along with the fender liners. Ive had mine off for a year or so and my bumper is getting flopping and one of the snaps broke recently. Thats probably attributed to cone damage, but it seems like it would have helped.

Another benefit, it keeps the engine cleaner.

Idk if you live in an area with crap roads, but in MA they are everywhere, so i got the aluminum undertray and LOVE It, its so reassuring to have anything hit that rather then the vitals of my engine

This, where did you get your aluminum understray? Mine broke off a while back and Ive been thinking of going to the stealership to get them back.
There not that important but they sure make your car look a little better front end wise.

I have ALWAYS been a fan of keeping as many OEM parts on my car as possible but after taking the under tray off and putting back on time and time again, I finally took it off for good. It is nice for keeping things neat and tidy but honestly it makes working on your car that much easier to keep it off.

I personally think they are good to have, especially in areas where there is possibilities for salty slush to splash up into the engine bay.

With that said, I couldn't stand mine getting in the way, and what a pita plastic clips are. No more for me!

without under tray the intercooler and radiator would get less air since the air travels to where there is less resistance.... with out the under tray the air would just simply go out under the intercooler and not cool the charged air. it is very important to seal off the area where the air comes in through the intercooler.
i would put the undertray back on it if you have it

many stuffs that you mod your EVO require to take off the ft bumper, like HID. IC pipe, IC, T-bolt clamps, ft lip.....
With the undershield, you need to spend more time to take it off and put it back !!!

Agreed, more time spend to replacing it back.
Furthermore the clips easily broken & hard to get replacement.
Thinking to get Aluminium cover (Beatrush or Carbing) but there are expensive

look up engineers and bean counters... There's a reason Mitsu spent the money on it, and you can bet it wasn't the bean counter asking for it.
