cooling issues

ive searched and havent found anything that can help me but the problem only happend when i go over 5500rpm it starts to heat up but normal driving it stays at normal temps. I havent drove the car in a while due to deployment. I've been stomp i got a new OEM themostat hopefully that can fix the problem but do any one have any idea of what it can be?

When you state normal driving you mean 2-3.5krpm puting around town?
Does it want to overheat at idle, car not moving?
When was your h20 pump changed last? how many miles do you currently have on the car?

Most likely it could be your thermostat...perhaps stuck half way open or something stupid.

Check your rad cap also. Cheap/easy to replace. If it cannot hold pressure your cooling system will boil at a lower temp. Air flow will cool the system with low load.

Also check to make sure your temp switch is working properly if you have evoscan. Just watch or log it.

Did you add any fluid to it, might have a air pocket it cannot work out also.

The air will be trapped somewhere either in the block or in the heater core. Its not something you will be able to see. Best way to do is to pull the return off the heater core and burp it their. Sometimes you can run it with out the cap on and the heater on and pull them out. Sometimes you cannot.

No buddys with evoscan?

I worked on a car with a funky temp switch. It would keep the car cool untill it got into load, as the temp switch was very slow to react. It acutally caused the car to get so hot it melted the spark plug boots. Driving it around it showed normal, drive it up a hill with any load and you could hear the coolant boil before it showed it was overheated. Talk about scary! I dont like to do head gaskets if its not needed.
