Boost gauge mounting idea

hey, just a quick wonder.... do you think it would be possible to mount a boost gauge where it says lancer in the gauge cluster?

That's where should have put it. I have been hesitant to break mine open and give it a whirl tho....

anthing is possible. it depends on how much clearance u have back there. you just need to take a look to see if theres a way to cut into there.

Anything is possible with electronic gauges.. I'd be brave enough to try it if I had a spare cluster.. LOL

i agree.... if i had a spare cluster i'd try it too... i guess behind the gauge faces there would have to be circuit boards and plastic casing for the electronics and what not... prolly not enough room. ah well, it was worth asking.

Thanks guys

go to a bone yard and practice what you want to do on a wrecked car cluster- it will be a less painful mistake that way!

You'd have to find a guage to fit that area, or "bore" it out so to speak. I think it's only like 45mm or something. That's where I want to mount a gauge.

i don't think i'd be able to cut it out. i just figured that the piece that says "lancer" would just pop out from the back when you opened up the cluster. someone said that it was a 45 mm hole? are there any gauges that are 45mm? what is the standard size for a gauge?

Like everyone else I want to know why Mitsu didn't put a boost gauge there to begin with. Maybe they think nobody is interested in a boost gauge in their Evo... YEAH, RIGHT!

Doesnt HKS make very thin gauges? Couldnt you just fit it on there and most likely look ok?
