Weird water flow sound on cold start
I realized this weird noise the other day
When I do a cold start, I can clearly hear a water flowing sound. It does it immediately after the start for a couple of seconds then stops. After I try to move the car, it does it again for a another 3 4 seconds then you can't hear anything
btw, no it is not the washer fluid, it comes from the engine side of the car
sound is almost like this, only a faster and only for a couple of seconds. What might the problem be?

It is just water flowing around in the heater core. when the car cools the coolant contracts and will make that noise. Since the water in the block and heater core circulates quickly and warms up fast it goes away rather quickly as well. I have the same noises when first starting the car. Some cars use a motor to open and close a valve to the heater core to keep water from circulating while it isnt on the heat setting but the evo does not.

My car also does this. I always wondered what it was but I figured it wasn't anything too harmful so I never cared enough to look into it. Batty200's response makes a lot of sense though. Thank you!
