LC-1 Logging Help

I have a LC-1 in my EVO8. I have the serial cable that came with the unit connected to a serial to usb adapter . I purchased it from Mellon racing it is the right one...lol. Opening LOGWORKS3 or LM programer I get " No serial port connected" New laptops don't have serial ports. Could this be a Vista issue with these programs. I've done some searching, but no clear resolution. I'm ready to have my car tuned, and this is my hold up. Evoscan works fine.

Hey
You need to get a serial to RS232 adaptor. Had the same issue with my LC-1. Most laptops have a 34mm RS232 port (my HP had a remote control in it). The RS232 platform is much more stable. Worked straight up with my LC-1 when the serial to usb didn't work at all. Just get the cheapest one you can find on ebay. This is the one I've got. I'm using Vista 64bit

if evoscan works fine then you're set, no reason to use logworks

Don't you need LM programmer to set the update time and such within the LC-1 itself. With that inmind I couldn't get evoscan to read from a serial to usb adaptor either.
Serial to rs232 worked first try with LM programmer, logworks and evoscan.

I feel its crazy for Innovate to supply a serial cable for the LC-1 system considering a great majority of users would be using a laptop and no laptops (as far as i know) have a serial port. They should supply a usb cable as standard and not ask most customers to have to buy an adaptor just to use the product as intended.
