Click when trying to start

Ok so for a while now I've had this intermittent problem. When I turn the key it clicks once. It sounds like it's down by the starter. If I turn the key like 20-50 times it eventually starts right up. I thought it was the starter going bad, but it's not. Here's what I tried so far.

Replaced the starter
replaced the battery
cleaned the ever living hell out of the battery terminal connectors
checked all the fuses

I have no idea what else it could be???? Anyone ever had this issue?

I have that bypassed. Plus I tried hooking it back up. NO luck.

I'm going to try and test the wiring going to the starter. check for voltage drop. Not sure what else to check. I'll update this with what I find out.

check the white wire for the starter solenoid. thats sounds like your problem. either the ground or the white wire or starter solenoid is bad i believe

Do you mean the "S" wire? I tried cleaning that and crimping it a bit. No change. I need to do a trace on it to see if it has a voltage drop next.

When you say to change the ground, which one are you talking about? The starter is grounded by the bolts that bolt it to the flywheel housing. I added a ground from the starter housing to the frame and it's still doing the same thing. Are you saying to add more grounds to the battery itself? It seems pretty well grounded already.

I changed the hole thing especially the one going to the battery when I touched mine it was hot as f**** so i replaced with a 0 gauge one, then from the chassis to tranny, tranny to head, head to chassis.

Agreed with the above posts, put a bigger and better ground wire on the car from the battery to the block

check your ground, but i really thinks its the solenoid. the "s" wire connects to the solenoid....it looks like a spark plug wire. change it
