You'll have the cost of your planned mods covered in the price differential. It's always easier to take **** out than add it in later. I'm not so certain the deletion of the front LSD is worth the loss of the sport ABS and the slightly improved handling.
Regardless of which trim level you choose, I think you'll be happy. I made the same switch from an APR Stg1 '00 S4 to the Evo. I haven't looked back since. Once my BR Stg3 is set up I'll have that "freight train" pull that my chipped S4 had, plus I'll have handling and braking that alot of S4 owners pine for.

I had a dream about the RS last night. In the dream I owned a white one with no options. I added the Omori gauges where the radio din was and had the Buschur stage 4+ kit.
I was driving down the blvd and the highways terrorizing unsuspecting drivers in their sport cars, blowing off my BOV, then I woke up....

Urban Legends are just that and some dealers do have morals. I can track the car all winter so I do not want abs (try tracking a car in the snow before you comment), and I do want lsd. I t might be good on your part to know some facts (about me and my relationship with my dealer) before letting me know about the "turd pushing" I might getting. Plus I think the number is about 700, not 500. Also, did you ever think of value 15 years from now, 700 verse 3500, which one is more collectable? Same car just a diffent "option" package can change a car from low collectable to highly collectable. I am not saying I am going to mothball this car, in fact it will be doing the oposite by tracking it, I am just pointing out the fact that we all have diffren't reasons (and perceived values) for a car or option package. For me I want an RS so thats what I will get.

You and I both! We need to do an "RS" meet when we get our cars, since we'll be 2 out of 700 :P

I don't think the RS will go for a mark-up as the standard EVO will push downward pressure on the price of the RS. If there is much of a mark-up, the car will approach the out the door price of cars that are loaded in comparison (w/o the front LSD and a bit more weight), which will not happen in the US IMHO.
From the response of the car so far I don't think it will be a real big deal to get one. Mitsu made this for tuners/teams and a few of use brave "stripper" guys who want to keep it simple. Remember the lightweight 440/hemi Darts, Joe Public did not beat down the dealer door for one of those but I wish I had one now.

The Evo RS has an "urban jungle" package, which throws back on the power mirrors, keyless entry, power windows, and some other things I can't remember.

I just got the '04 Evo RS and test drove both the VIII and the RS. Hard to tell the interior noise difference even though lack of sound deadening in the RS. Comes standard with a/c, could careless for the other whimpy, lazy stuff that has made us into a nation of couch patotoes, remote controls, mickey Dees, SUVs and increased butt size...
Go for the RS!!!

Go for the RS!!!
