So here is the readers digest version.

Since I built the car (December 2k11) I always had a small trans leak. It would drip here and there... a couple drips a night. I decided to take the car to Maryland for the OC AWD Meet. It was the first long trip. I made sure the trans was full and I took it to Maryland. I drove home, and as I am about to park the car... I throw it in reverse and it just grinds... IT WOULDNT GO IN AT ALL. Every other gear is perfect! It goes into reverse when it wants to, or when I put the car in reverse before I start it.

A couple days later, I go to check/add fluid and I put a qt in it. same issue. NOW I KNOW THIS IS NOT A MINOR ISSUE... I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issue.

 

mine has a problem with going into reverse (or actually feeling like it) then i go to let out of the clutch but it revs like neutral. i have to take it back out and throw it in reverse like im natching a gear sometimes and it will work.

 

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine when he returned to Arizona having just driven to Texas. In his case it turned out being something wrong with a synchro.

 

damn... i guess the trans has to come off either way. i guess it will just have to see Shep
