I/C piping question

Hey guys if i get a 2.5 in i/c oulets and later want to run 3" I/C piping can i just slap a 2.5-3 " coupler to the i/c would that work like having 3" oulets on the i/C or is it necessary to get a 3" outlet IC?

If you plan on going to 3" piping, I would personally get a ic with 3" outlets and then use a reduce from 3" to 2.5" for now and then when you want to go to 3" ic piping just get 3" couplers...

It is not necessary to get a 3" ic as it will work just fine with 3" ic pipes that reduce to 2.5" at the ic...

Either way works, but if I was going for big power to actually need and gain from 3" piping I would want the ic to not be restictive at the inlets and outlets either

Well personally I picked up a hta 3586, running ets 2.5" piping, ams ic with 2.5" inlet and oulets, magnus v5, boomba 3" tb with smooth reducing spacer from 2.5" to 3", ported head with a fully build 2.3rpm... I will not be on e85 but rather pump gas 94 octane... I dont think my 2.5" pipes will restict me all that much to be honest which is why I went 2.5", I want best power-spool possible Goodluck on your build

interesting setup, I will stick to 2.5 for now and im sure like u said either way should work im not going to try to break any records just make my car fun to drive

Im thinking about going twin scroll for either turbo as well instead of the single.

Is the difference b/w the different displacements make them that worth getting? Kinda big bucks... I was thinking about going with just a built 2.0 just gonna be my DD/ Weekend Warrior

I currently have a HTA86 and I am running 2.5 piping. My intentions are to crack 700. But I don't necessarily want to reduce spool time. Therefore, I plan on sticking with the 2.5 but MAP recommended I bump up to 3" for the UICP over 700. So based on your intentions, I believe you would be uber happy with the 2.5 piping. Best of luck on your setup
