Went to the drag races today.... confused

Went to the drag races, everything was fine, I was launching at about 5800-6000 for the majority of the night, and I wanted to improve my 60' times just a hair, so I launched a little bit higher on the next run.

Got up to the tree, lined up, put it in gear, pressed the clutch in all the way and started revving it to about 6200-6300 and I noticed the car was moving forward a little bit. I let off the gas a little bit and it stopped before I set the tree off. I'm still sort of new to the Evo scene, so I'm not 100% sure if that was normal, or what.

Basically, my question is: Is it normal that the car starts rolling slowly when the clutch is pressed in all the way and at that high in the RPM's?

Thanks for the help!

If the clutch is dragging slightly it can happen... You may need to adjust your clutch linkage to make sure it's fully disengaging.

Sweet, thanks for the help. If that doesn't work, I'll just be sure to stage a little bit earlier next time

maybe the strip is on an angle? Just kidding. Def looking into adjusting your clutch, or like you said, just stage as far back as possible so as you roll forward, you will just deep stage.

I had this problem too, the clutch is dragging but can be easily fixed. I just held the e-brake while launching to keep from rolling forward for the rest of the runs at the track.

I'm not dumping the clutch, I ride it out slightly. It's still alot on the tranny, but not compared to dumping the clutch. I noticed when I launched lower than 5800 my 60' was slow. I usually get 1.8-1.9 60' between 5700-6200
