Someone stole my AMS shift knob at MOD '12

Just got back from MOD '12 today and as I got into my Evo VIII I noticed my AMS Delrin shift know was missing, I immediately asked my friends if they were F***ing with me and they swore they weren't so I tracked down a staff member and after a drawn out discussion they said they couldn't do anything for me. Anyways I just wanted to see if anyone saw anybody doing anything suspicious or talking about stealing stuff, it's probably a long shot, but hey, it can't hurt to ask. I was parked in the very back corner in the grass. Any help would be much appreciated, I love the shift knob and I don't really wanna drop another 60-70 bucks on another one

well I hate to state the obvious, but you should leave your car locked. Lots of DSMers at MOD.

I even locked my RS with nothing in it. I did have my hood poped, but damn they would really have to try to steal from the engine bay.

I never leave any doors unlocked, or the hood propped open at a track event, or even at a meet. Too many thieves around and you can't trust anyone. All it takes is a few seconds to steal something

Man people like that are out there that's why I never leave my car unlocked or my windows rolled down at meets. A friend of mine had his car entered at H.I.N. in dallas and some dude stole his reservoir socks. The funny thing is he got caught in the act and it took alot for us to not beat the **** out of the guy, turns out he stole some ssqv's from a vendor's stand and some other stuff so he got kicked out.

I just wanted to add that a long time ago when I was into the Honda scene, There was some kid and his friend lurking underneath my hood in the staging lanes at a local drag event. I got suspicious and approached him. As soon as I come around the hood he takes off. I didn't see anything missing, but that night after the drive home, I discovered that I got engine oil all over my valve cover. It turns out that my engine oil filler cap was loose... so I came to the conclusion that the kid was trying to steal it and took off before I actually caught him red handed.

Wow, that is really lame. Its sad that these kids find such things like an oil cap and shift knob so unattainable that they have to go to steal one to have it. Pathetic.
