Tough cam timing question

If cam timing is off can it cause the ECU to throw p0335 and p0340 codes.
Cam and crank sensor no reference signal.

I want to know if the ECU logic will throw a CEL if the cam and crank sensor outputs are not in sync.

Ah ok reason I asked was when we installed cams in my car the cam angle sensor was not tightened down to the cam and it was throwing these codes because it was just wobbling around inside there.
