2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII

I just spoke to a few Mitsubishi dealers in the area and they said the 2004 Evolution VIII's are not available till May or June. Is that true? And assuming that it is, does anyone know why? Would anyone know if there are any changes from the 2003 and 2004 Evo VIII? Thanks again for your time, guys!

Very first arrivals are probably going to be April. The '04 will have the option of leather and 315 watt Infinity system in addition to the current sunroof and CF wing. The powertrain warranty should be 10/100.

That SCC article was talking about the RS, not the regular Evo. And if you really want an Evo before June or July...might as well buy and 03. The only difference physically (besides leather and stereo) is a VIN plate. They will be the exact same cars.

Hrm, don't think I'd want hot-*** leather stickin to me while I was sliding around in the seat eating up corners, but it does add a bit of $bling$ factor. So I guess for some its a good option. Maybe some leather trim on the current Recaro's... hmmm...

Talking to my dealership this week about the 04's, and was told not surprisingly that the 10/100 powertrain thats about to be offered on all other Mitsubishis will not apply for the evo, for somewhat obvious reasons.

Foiled again.

I do wonder though if they've listened to any of our complaints here: Will they subtly change aspects of the clutch, or improve paint quality without making a big deal about it? That'd be cool for all future owners.

Wow it is a good thing we have yet another thread about this.

This thread should be closed, it isn't even worthy of being merged.

The car will be here when it gets here.

If I'm not mistaken, Mitsubishi's press release announced clearly that the 10/100 Powertrain Warranty was to be offered to all Mitsu's...including the Evo!!

You should definitely be on the lookout, because dealers like this will go to just about any extent to not offer warranties on your vehicle!

I spoke to the sales manager of a Southern California dealership yesterday, and he indicated that based on the information he has been told thus far, allocations should start arriving in JUNE. What brought up the conversation was the dealer had about 7 Evo's on the lot and I asked, when they would start REALLY dumping 03 inventory.... he indicated that they weren't in a big rush to sell them off just yet (because 04 coming in June)...and that other dealers were calling more aggressively for dealer trade/purch because their inventory/allocations were starting to thin out.

He (the sales mgr) is the same person I bought my car from and I cannot think of any reason why he would choose to lie about his expected arrival month.

So for those who are waiting for 04's....just wait patiently and you WILL be rewarded with an insanely fun car...................

okie about the 10/100,000 warranty thing, its great that Mitsu will offer it for the Evo's but I've checked 5 different dealerships and inquired about it, and they all said no way... though it makes sense because the life of a turbo usually runs out by 100,000 miles and if they warranty that, that means you get a new turbo by the time the warranty expires, which to me from a business standpoint makes no sense whatsoever. I would love it if Mitsui will actually do something like that, but judging from their financial situations it is not likely for that to happen. I guess the only way we can find out is when the 04's will actually hit the showroom and inquire about it then.
