I guess I'm unusual, but I let everyone drive mine: friends at work, my wife, even my twelve-year-old son (in a deserted parking lot -- he stalled it). While most of us are passionate about our cars, ultimately it's just a bunch of metal, glass, and rubber. I believe that letting others drive the car allows me to share a little bit of the Evo experience. People usually come away with a big grin on their face and have a much greater appreciation of what it is and what its capabilities are.

You're not the only one, I let just about everyone drive my EVO as well, the way I see it, it's only a $500 deductible mistake if something happens. While I love my car, I've learned in the past never to be in love with the car you own, it will always lead to a big day of sadness if you do. A car is a car and can always be replaced, but the unbelievable smiles on the faces that I let drive the EVO are trully priceless. I've let a guy with just a learner's permit drive mine in triple digit speeds in the mountains. I let my roommate borrow it on occasion. I've let friends of friends girlfriends drive it (hell I was impressed that she knew what an EVO was and had the ***** to ask if she could drive it). In the seven months I've owned it, I would guess that more than 30 different people have driven my car, and after 22K miles I'm even on the original clutch.
But then again, I've never been normal in any classification.

I've let most of my close friends drive it. I carpooled to work with a friend for a while, and I always wanted to drive the Evo. Naturally, I let him take it to lunch, and I know he played around when it was in his sole possession. I didn't care, it's under warranty, he's a good driver. As long as he put gas in it after he was out having fun, it made no difference to me.
I am with Lee K and cutlass73, why not share the wealth. I will let my friends drive it and my wife, this way they understand why I like the car and have a better idea about the Evo. I guess as much as I like the car it is just a car and if something happens to it, it can be replaced.
I have had 2 experiences like this. First was my Porsche 944. My ex wanted to take it to the mall with her friend. They got back I go to get in my car and the front quarter panel is bashed in. I asked what happened and I got the infamous "I don't know."
Second was when I let my best friend drive my Z06. I told him to get on it a little to feel the power. We roll out at 5 mph and he dumps the clutch. We hit revlimiter and then he slams it into second and dumps the clutch again. At this point the var is sideways and he's ****ting in his pants as well as myself. I freek and pull the e-brake. He said he had control but I beg to differ. Honestly I thought he knew how to drive, my fault for assuming.

This is such an interesting topic!
I let my wife drive my EVO several times. She is a decent driver, but I know that she is not as careful as me. Thankfully, there was no damage to the car.
I also have a 300ZXTT, however, and she drove that car numerous times. The only major dings in the paint happened while she had the car. One was a dime-sized ding on the driver's side front panel. I always try to pick a "safe" parking spot wherever I park. Often, it means parking far away from the entrance to the place.
The other ding was a smaller but deeper ding on the hood caused by a rock from a gravel truck.
Those damn gravel trucks on the freeway are the bane of my freeway driving pleasure! They almost always have little rocks tumbling off that create a lot of windshield cracks and dings.
Anyway, back to the topic, it is my personal opinion that NOONE will ever treat your car as good as you would.

I'll let anyone in the family drive my car.
My mom takes it out every now and then. Shes 54 and loves it.
Tought my neice to drive stick in it. She was 15 and did very well, had the hang of it in a day. Dont think she stalled one time. My cousin has taken it for a spin or two, shes 21 and when she comes in from Cali. shes alway beggin to drive it. I let her drive from NYC to West Virginia one time. I slept the whole way. Then theres the girlfriend, she only gets to drive it if I get to drive her WRX. She gets the better end of the deal on that one.
