I love this post With that said, $200 and about 3-4 hours of your time will fix the lack of Cruise control, I did it to mine since I have about a 30 mile highway commute each way and it works great. Lol @ baby seats, good call

What makes the X plush and luxurious? Cruise control?

Agreed. I've owned more than a handful of Evos and will say the X has just as much, if not more, cheap plastic bits to it's interior. The only thing the X has over the CT9A chassis quality wise is it appears to be of better build quality, it has cruise control, slightly smoother ride, and slightly more sound deadening. At the same time, my 04 35R Evo riding on Bilsteins and Spec-R's was more comfortable and quiet than my X.

I've owned 9 Evos and I'm back in a 9, so what does that tell you?? IMO 350-400whp 8 or 9 is the best kind of Evo. The one I purchased recently didn't have much of anything done to it, so I get to add what I want to it. I'm keeping it simple and shooting for near 350whp and going to keep it there for a while. Good luck on your search.

Thank you I am looking for an 9 as we speak but I am picky. But still looking for a supra and or a stock X. Thank you for all the positive feedback on the 9. I will be looking forward to hopefully joining the 9's

Unless you're a baller, don't buy a Supra. They are cool to own until you have to modify them. If you are really looking for one, my brother has a really clean 94 TT that he's selling.

look on the evo X section, they all claim to have interior that is 10X better then earlier evos, i've even recalled some comparing it almost "lexus" like... what does that tell you ????

as for the build quality..... you do realize mitsu teamed up with hyundai in making this car as well as the motor of the X, dont believe me? look it up

i said it once in this thread and i've said it a MILLION times probably all through out this forum.. The last REAL evos were the 8 and 9 with 4g63 motors and you were able to distinguish them from regular lancers.

Once again this is not a bash the evo X thread, this is a lets help this guy with his search for a 9 and give him good info. as for getting a supra i LOVE the supras but with the prices that people are selling them for plus the age of the last year built. your nuts if you'd spend $20K or more for a car thats 10 to 15 years old. yes i know the capabilities try finding a stock or near stock one

I'm not too sure how many threads I've read where X owners compared their cars to Lexus in refinement, but I assure you that if I had seen that I would happily correct that "false" opinion. I have a newer TSX and the interior in that is light years ahead of any Evo. It's not even close. Lexus is similar, if not a slight bit better quality.

I'm well aware of the Global engine used between Hyundai, Mitsu and Dodge. I knew someone who sold his Evo 8 to buy a Genesis coupe saying "It had the same motor as the X." A little while later he ended up buying another CT9A Evo.

I agree that the last Evo died with the CT9A chassis, but that doesn't mean there can't be another real Evo. I like the X, but don't think it is as good as it could/should be. The 4G had to be retired with modern technology showing up old technology as far as making power and gas mileage (new 5.0, cough) goes. I love Evos and will probably always own a CT9A car, but I await something newer to excite me the same way.

i agree with just about everything you said buttttt i have seen few say the interior of the X so much better blah blah blah, of course the interior of a acura or lex will be better, their both luxury brands. as for there being another real evo, it was confirmed that mitsu will make the next evo a gas/hybrid one.

maybe im ol school IDK but i will never think of a sport car or sport compact a gas/hybrid. even the new NSX is supposedly rumored to be some sort of a sport hybrid. in my eyes thats just sad... i know technology changes and there will be new ways of making power but a hybrid sport car??? CMON !!!!!! as for the new 5.0 coyote mustang, it does make killer power, but at the same time its definetly no hybrid... it'll probably cost in the upper $70 or so bucks to fill that beast.

im with you on that last comment though. i also await for something that really catches my eye and i must have it and that'll put a smile on my face the way my evo did when i first got her years ago. today's cars are just bland and do not catch my eye at all. i like a few but nothing that crazy that'll make me want to sell the evo and start car payments over again, until then my evo will stay with me

Question, what can the Evo 9 motor hold in terms of power? I hear anything over 400 TQ on the Evo X aluminum block and you will blow rods. Is this the same for the iron block in the Evo 9? A friend told me you can run much more power on the Evo 9.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about the loss on the X. I went from a 8 to X to 9. Best move by far was to go back to a 9. Was yours an MR or GSR?

as for evo 8 and 9 you can make some damn good power, sure its not "plush" and "luxurous" feeling as the X but ours make up for that with the power capabilities and the dashing good looks. plus at least with evos 8 and 9 you can distinguish them from regular lancers
Thats because the X isnt an evo. Its an AWD Hyundai disguised as an Evo.

The X interior doesn't look as bad, but it feels even cheaper, particularly the steering wheel. That is something that kept bugging me when I test drove one, since you'll always be touching it, and it's a downgrade from the Momo wheel in the VIIIs and IXs.

Also, OP -- you'll need to change your username.

The biggest problem here is definitely your username now... lol

You'll definitely be happy with the 9. I wish I had a 9 instead of my 8. I've driven them all plenty and prefer the 9 over the X... Just my .02

I hear this alot. I loved my X but then again it was my only evo I drove. Went from a 07 tc to my X so it was a big difference.

It did feel cheap but I didn't buy an evo to have a nice interior. Username will be the hard part.

Looking at 3 IX now all under 25k miles and one at only 7400 but it's an MR. What's so bad about the 6 speed, I know people say it's weak??? I searched today a little bit but I was to distracted gonna have to search more threads tomorrow.
