ARP headstuds

If im going for 350hp on a daily driven evo are the headstuds necessary?

dyno tech runs a 400-500hp evo on the stock studs.

Just want an opinion if I dont need them I want to sell them and buy a boost guage so I can start tuning

Bump this old thread up!That way there is one less! Im looking to go for 500whp on stock long block with a precision 5858 if that even matters and want to know if i need to do headstuds? I know english has commented on a thread where they have had a few over that with stock headstuds just kind of wanted some more input.

things like headstuds are cheap insurance. if your not the first owner of your evo, you might want them. you never know what the previous owner did/ or how hard they drove it....english could be using a new set of OEM studs.

previous owner could of had lots of detonation and knock.

just do it a save your self the potentional complete failure of head gasket blow out, headwarpage ect...

cheap insurance is good

Runaway detonation kills headgaskets, keep the stockers, you're more likely to put the studs in wrong or torque incorrectly if you are not savvy.

I'm 2nd owner of my 06 with 30,000 miles and the previous owner was a buddy of mine that always takes car of his cars. Was stock motor for longest time now has a worksevo tune. I personally would rather have a shop do the headstuds anyways and would go with the MAP kit just dont want to put into that if I don't have to. 500whp is the most id go with this motor anyways without doing a build. I know its "cheap" insurance but why do it if you don't have to is where im getting at.
