Hit in the back by a truck!

This past Friday I was hit in the back at a red light by a Ford Ranger...

here are some pictures... I would like the insurance company to total the car out. Addition to the damages the car doesn't want to go into gear any longer... I had the car in gear about to take off when he hit me and pushed me about 10 ft, What do you guys think?

From what it looks like, your insurance company will not total it out for you.

Damn that sucks. I don't know about totaling the car out unless the frame has some damage. Which it looks like it might. Any pics with the trunk open? or will it open ( and close again). As far as the gear thing I don't know about that one. either way good luck getting things worked out.

the frame beam under the car is completely smashed toward the front, so I don't even want to wonder how they will straighten that part out (since it isn't a replaceable item). The right quarter panel is also dented in and exhaust is dented too.

Upon visual inspection, you'd think that the damage doesn't warrant the car being totalled. However, when there's frame damage and all who knows what's likely to happen? Certain states have laws such that if the repair cost is above a certain percentage of the car's value, the car is automatically declared a total loss. Just curious, why do you want the car totalled? You're likely to lose a bunch of money on it.

I'd rather lose the money than have to drive around a wrecked car that I had no part in wrecking, you know? I haven't had it but 9 months or so now and to me it seems to me that I should be placed back where I was before the accident or close to it. If I can't get a new car than I rather not have to continue paying on a 30k car that is wrecked and will never be the same again. I had a lot of love for the car...

There is no way it's totalled, even if there is frame damage. Really, imo, it's not even close to being totalled. That damage can easily be repaired

There is no such thing as a frame...only portions of the unibody. That hit is no big deal at all...sorry bout yer luck, but it should be fine if fixed by experts.

Might get them to slip you a nice titanium exhaust for your trouble if you talk to them real nice...

Damn Ford trucks! I was rear ended by a Ford F-150 and pushed into the car in front of me. Very similar rear damage to what you have. Now the car is repaired and drives absolutly perfect. Just get a good body shop and don't let the insurance company for the guy who hit you get away with any ****. Take a look at my repair threads:

And

My only concern for you is the possible drive train damage. I was sitting with clutch in and brake on when I was hit and had no drive train issues.
