Ask him why an Evo 9 tranny and transfer case. Also, ask him why does it need a new tranny and transfer case.

I'm pretty sure the mileage is registered in the ECU. The cluster only displays what the ECU tells it to. Though you can get your ECU's reprogrammed to whatever mileage you want.

EDIT: I was looking at the Philly Craigslist and saw that myself. The fact that the guy can't spell simple words was enough for me to look elsewhere.

Engine intake was modded w/ Speed Density (pretty serious mod). I would at least want to know if the owner still has the MAF. If he doesnt, I would be even more concerned

Incorrect, the cluster can be swapped to lower the miles.

I wouldnt touch that car with a ten foot pole unless it seriously compression and leakdowned like a chap AND the title/ carfax reflected the 39k story.

Red flags :

-Replaced transfer case (because the first one was blown from beating on it)

-Discount auto parts air filter

-The guy can't spell worth a damn

You can always buy it, part it out, and then rebuild it correctly

Ah ok. Wasn't sure. I know some cars with electronic gauges store the miles in the ECU.

Personally I wouldn't touch this Evo with a ten foot pole. Be prepared to spend $5k plus just to keep it moving. If I were you I would save up a few more thousand and find an evo with around 50k miles, unmodded or at least thoughtfully modded, and from an owner who can compile a sentence without you questioning his sobriety or mental capacity.

Before tossing this evo aside like it has AIDS, you should see how long he has had the car and what mods he has done himself. I'm no "people reader", but i cant see someone doing a lot of those mods himself who can't even use spell check. Or his spell check just committed suicide.
