Exhaust search (I have searched :)

Well, I'm back. I sold my '05 Evo nearly 5 years ago, and finally have managed to get back into an 04

I purchased it from the original owner, who had some quality mods installed, but I have an issue with his exhaust choice: HKS Carbon Ti. My issue with my previous Evo years ago was the insane amount of harassment I recieved from have a loud, proud, and beautiful exhaust...so I eventually got rid of the car due to that (and other reasons).

My quest is to find an "stockish" exhaust that's still being made! I've scoured this site, and all the exhausts I'm interested in seem to not being made any more.

I found the Perrin, Cobb, Thermal, B&B, Vishnu, RMR, and more seem to have stopped production on the VIII models of their exhausts.

I have found the Apexi Noir (or WSII) and the Tanabe Medallion, but both have sections that neck down to under 3". (2.65-2.75"). Maybe Borla?

My desire is to get something as similar as the Apexi Noir or Thermal...does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm not as concerned about loudness, but looking for something as sublte as possible but still allowing me to make good power gains.

Thanks again...and its good to be back!

-Stephen

It's too bad you live far away, I'd almost be interested in trading you my RSR exhaust as it's almost a little too quiet for my liking.

You have the RSR ExMag?

Full 3" piping...no taper?

I don't know much details about the whole setup (just bought the car about a month ago), but the seller said it was the RSR setup, the more quiet one and spent about 700 on it. Mine is all chrome though and the pics I've seen seem to have black paint or something on them?

I actually noticed on Perrin's website that they are offering their exhaust once again for the Evo 8/9. I ran the black version of the exhaust years ago and was one of my favorites.

I'd love to get the black version of Perrin's...I'll see if I can find someone who has that in stock. Is it this one (as show on ExtremePSI's site):

I like that style with the oval style muffler vs. the all-to-common N1 fart can style.

I also like Vishnu's, but at 1200, that's pretty damn pricey!

It is round style and hides behind the bumper very well, also it exits out the rear completely straight.

I had a Thermal R&D exhaust, its was nice, but the muffler is heavy. The B&B is nice, and quiet. Check out the WORKS Exhale exhaust. Its also subtle, and quiet.

Hey check out the Buschur Racing Magnaflow style. looks stock, pretty quiet, full 3" and very light. You can also put another resonator/muffler in place of the cat/after the cat to make it more quieter. I just bought the billet style on my car and i love it.

I'll re-look at them.

I was looking at the "oval style" exhaust more...something along the lines of the Tanaba Medallion or Vishnu.

Think I've decided to go with the HKS Sport exhaust as it will match up with my HKS DP and HFC.
