Hks recirc

I just got an hks ssqv for cheap. I have an evo 9 bov and it works great but i miss the hks bov sound. Has anyone recirculated one of these before and if so had good results? Being evo bov like clean idle and rpm drop to idle. I would think if i recirc it, it should be ok right? Idk thats why im asking. I "SEARCHED" and found nothing on it.
I own an evo 8

Would you not loose the sound once you start recirc. the HKS BOV? The sound comes because you are venting to air and not recirc.

When I bought my evo it came with an hks that was setup vent to atmosphere and it was LOUD. I personally like loud BOVs although some think it's ricer its likely my favorite part of the car LOL. Anyway back on track, when I got my car tuned and had some work done one of the first things that they suggested was to recirc the hks, I cringed thinking the loudness would be gone but sure enough when I picked my car up I revved it as ricer as I could and sure enough still pretty dang loud. It will take a different tone so youll notice that, but yes you will definitely still hear it. I have an 8 btw not that it matters but yeah.

I figured the sound would still be there just a bit muffled. but does it idle properly upon rpm drop (fast rpm drop)?

Hey there, not a 9 but a 2005 Evo 8. I've got the HKS SSQV, & had for a bit VTA, & am now recirc'd. To my surprise I had no issues with VTA like others spoke of. Decided to tone things down a bit & recirc'd & still no serious issues. I have noticed some odd weight distribution on track but if you're just talking street, & looking for a particular sound, I didn't run into any issues. I still hear it recirc'd, just not as loud. Let me know if I can help in any other way.

I believe the sound will still be there due to the reply under yours.

I had and hks VTA and it had idle issues upon fast rpm drop. It will kill at times. Im just gonna recirc. I know that will fix my issues

Understandable. Like I said my VTA didn't have issues, I was surpriseded. And my BOV recirc'd with my personnal throttle experience was on a track, & I was still surprised. Recirc'd the BOV will cut down on the sound but unless you're tracking I didn't have any issues.

Hks doesn't whistle when you recirc because it's a different insert. The recirc insert just makes a whoosh sound. IMO its not the best valve to begin with, and if you're not getting he sound then you may as well ditch it.

I never had the common issues with the vta setup that others had either. My idle is the same and no difference between vta and recirc setup, the sound changed and was quieter but not by much at all. Good luck man~!

Not seeing hunting at idle doesn't mean you won't have "problem" with VTA on MAF setup. What you don't see is an extra dose of fuel every time you shift and let out the air volume that was measured by the MAF. A rich mixture will be harder to burn and unburn fuel will wash down cyl walls. Washed walls will be pretty but will wear down the rings faster.
So.
If the ricers in you must come out, think about buying a GM AIT sensor and a good MAP sensor and have your car tuned by someone that knows Speed Density.

Actually i am in the proces of going speed density. Since we went there my tuner claims he can get me at least another 20whp with speed density. My setup is pritty basic. 3"downipipe exhuast straight through.
Fuel pump
ic piping.
Tuned by 4wstuning
Ets intake wth maf
But now since in switching to tscompusa tuning he claims another 20whp

Has anyone seen good whp gains with speed density? Cuz i still have to buy the 4"intake intake setup and pay the tuning prices.
also is getting a tune needed when running a meth injection kit? And how much whp can i expect from it?

Sorry this is alot i know.
