Dimensions of MZ690116 oil filter (Need filter wrench)

I cannot find any information about this.. It looks like the filter diameter is 80mm. Is this true? How many flutes does it have? I would look myself, but my jack stands are not here yet..

I want to go with a end cap filter wrench because I don't want to deal with the mechanical parts failing on the adjustable ones. Also, if you're going to recommend I just stab the oil filter with a screwdriver (which I will not do), at least answer the other questions...

If you don't mind getting a little dirty, you can reach underneath the car and feel of the filter, unless you still have the undertray on.

By the looks of the filter in the pic (the one on the right), Its safe to assume that there are 12 - 14 flutes on the filter.

Stabbing a filter is very redneck and should only be used as a last resort if you can't break it loose any other way. I put on a latex glove and use my kung fu death grip to loosen my oil filter.

Not really the answer I was looking for, but are you using a swivel grip oil wrench or one of these:

Undertray still on (not looking forward to removing that...)

See for me, it looks like the filter could possibly have 15 flutes. I count 6 visible flutes, but that is not even the full half. It looks like there could be another 1.5-2 on the one half...

Hand might work, but I don't want to risk having to go out for another tool during the process. I'm ordering some tools right now, so I might as well buy the filter wrench as well.

oil filter can be removed with the undertray on

the filter should not be on tight enough that you can't remove it by hand with a rubber glove (for grip) on or mechanic gloves on

Unless Mitsubishi, (Insert Name Here) Automotive, or some Jiffy/Quick/Hurry/Puma lube did the last oil change

OP a larger adjustable wrench, Channel Locks. or filter wrench will break it loose.

Then go to parts store, grab filter of choice, and find specific slip fit one that fits on the bottom of the filter

OEM is 80mm, 15 Flute is what I use. For $5 at Advanced Auto or wherever, it's nice to know I can get the thing off easily, every time.

How do you jack the car up with the undertray on?

Considering they are the factory jack points I'd say. When your car goes on a lift that's what they lift it from.

Where are the pinch welds on the front of the car?

Or are you talking about lifting the front right side up, placing jack stand, then lifting front left side up, and placing jack stand? That sounds like it could be dangerous?

oh, well you have to remove that little mid cover to get to the front lift point, but otherwise the main part of the undertray can stay on

Yes of course. You aren't going to jack it far enough to flip it over man No danger. Be smart

You're just changing the oil.

Get some ramps.

I just spent $450 on a jack and 4 stands, so I don't know if I want to buy ramps right now.
