3 starters in less than a month

hey guys! ok i dont know if this is bad luck or there is actually something wrong with the car. So in August my factory starter started going out, usual symptoms slow cranking etc finally it went out i knocked on it and car came back out so i got it home and bought a brand new one installed it drove about two weeks on it. It started to slow crank i got home and then i was about to drive somewhere and turn the key and just Click and nothing. Replaced it again did exact same thing... so any ideas or should i just replace it ?? and hope this is the one that wont go out lol

where are the starters from? if they are from autozone or some cheap chain, probably just bad starters. oem mitsubishi starters, something else causing it.

i got it from orileys, i payed extra for better brand but i guess ill try again and see how this goes

Usually they have a testing station to see if it's the starter that's bad, or if it's something else on your car. Have they tested any of them for you?

Yeh, did you test them? You should compare its sound (power) from in the car to a test bench. It seems odd that you can go through 3 starters... I'm going to assume a poor ground as the starter pulls alot of amps.

I would definately check the wiring, make sure the power and grounds are all good. Test your battery and alternator, make sure they are both good.

Fwiw, I have had experiences with Oreilys where I have had to replace the alternator 2 times on a car I was working on, One of them had the case bolts loose. When I went back for the 3rd one I had them test it right out of the box and that one tested bad. If you go back for a replacement starter have them test it before you buy it. IMO though I would only buy oem if you can. G/L

battery test good? check grounds for corrosion as well and clean if needed.

I once visited a facility that did rebuilds on starters and other things. I needed a mechanical cruise control for an old GM product and I had heard they had some. It was in a galvanized steel building with a dirt floor, there was no heat and it was winter. The employees worked in their coats. And, also, no cruise controls.

yea i would check battery and ground wires. every time you put a new one in how long until it would have trouble starting again?

I read through the link you posted. Where is the help in it?

This place I visited was rebuilding starters that were being sold somewhere. The point is, I can't see a person standing on a dirt floor and wearing their coat taking a lot of pride in their work. Get the starter you have repaired by a reputable shop or buy new.
