I used to own a WRX and when it got cold, the dash board would rattle like crazy. I'm not experiencing any rattles or creeks in the EVO though. It's a solid performer. The only noise I noticed was the tires. The tires werent as noisy until I reached about 3k miles then it sounded like warped tires. As soon as I reached 5k miles, I swapped the front to the back and the tire noise is at a minimum but you can still hear it a little.

Thanks for everyone's input. My main concern is whether a fairly quiet brand new evo will turn into a noisy, rattling, bucket of bolts in a few hundred or few thousand miles. If I get one, I plan to drive the heck out of it (autocross, 4-8 track events per year, and an occasional trip to the drag strip). Nevertheless, I still have to drive it to work on Monday and I want it to be fairly civil. I'm just trying to draw on the experiences of all the evo owners here so I can make the best decision for myself.
I realize it's a "rally-inspired" performance car (that's why I'm looking at them in the first place) and not a SUV or a Lincoln Towncar. But, how come we never hear about other performance cars (BMW E36, E46, Honda S2000, Corvette Z06, etc.) having squeaks and rattles?

for some evo's are like; how would i say that "a wish coming true" and im one of them...See man the thing is you gotta be crazy about a certian car first, like you can't wait till that day comes of buyin it...
P.S. I also got this feeling that the summer of 04 will be an intresting summer for V-8's vs. our lil 4 cylinders

many - may not include you. Chill nothing personal at all. I bet there are some noises in your car. Some folks (not necesarily you, calm down) though tend to look for noises and often it's there masscara boucing around under their cheeseburger wrappers stuffed around the car.
