Quote: i would assume a TME evo, would be in the value range possibly $10,000 to $15,000 possibly more, considering they aren't easy to come by especially here in the U.S

To all the butt hurt X owners, let's be real the evo X has not and WILL NOT out sell the amounts of evos 8 and 9.... before some smartass asks for proof or statistics, i don't have it, nor do i feel like looking it up. all owners of the previous gens KNOW that the X is the red headed step child of all models evo.

Any former evo 8 or 9 owner who traded in for a X just did so to get into a new car, and from numerous posts on here i have seen, most have regret doing so.... The other portion of X owners are just people who have heard the hype about owning one, so they jumped on the bandwagon as well.

To the people asking for statistics, do yourself a favor and just search through these forums, there is your proof. also if your feelings are still hurt, remember your not in the X sub section anymore
Why is the x considered the "red headed step child"? Doesn't matter what section I'm in. Im asking a simple question. What makes the X such a crap shoot compared to the 8/9?

The 4B11 has proven to be pretty good engine. Is that the reason, it doesn't have the 4G63?

Most people cant accept change honestly. I personally have a X and my buddy psphinx81 has a 700 whp evo 8 and honestly I like both cars. They both have their upsides and downsides. My personal opinion is that TRUE car people can appreciate ANY performance car and not get so stuck on their high horse. I remember when the X first came out that I hated it but the looks grow on you. A X certainly drives like and feels like driving any other evo out there to me.

Motortrend disagrees with this rediculous statement but hey..... what do they know?

I have owned both 8 & X. I like my X a lot more. I view them all as same team... even DSM/GVR4s/3kGT. Love all of them for different reasons.

4g63 is a proven engine, though its over 20 years old. The 4b11 was made as a multi platform engine to
in other cars besides the Evo, to make more money primarily. Every version of Evo is as good as the last. I don't see anything wrong with the X, except the fact they made a MIL for the timing chain stretch..which seems
Like a design flaw in the 4b11 to begin with.

Was the 4G63 not used in other mitsu platforms as well? Eclipse, talon etc?

Cars are a bad investment period. Sure there are cars out there that bring mega cash, but think how long they have to sit to be like that. Now take that 40k and invest in to something else and just sit back and watch it grow.

Different version. . . but yeah they were used in Hyundais, non turbo DSMs, etc... I've seen a few turbo DSMs with Hyundai valve covers. Pretty funny.

your Motortrend article that speculates about future classics says the Evo X could be one some day; cool. I still have the ridiculous opinion that IF people desire owning an Evo before it was killed off, they are going to be thinking of the pre-X Evo's. The ones that built and continued the legacy. Not the version that walked the "evolution" name to it's death.

Still doesn't make the X desirable today. I remember 8's and 9's having $10K+ markups at the stealerships. And 8's still selling at MSRP when the 9 was being released. If they ever even posted anymore, which they basically don't, South Coast advertises brand new Evos at $5,000+ below MSRP just because a new year is around the corner, more with additional discounts.

Maybe I should have said ignorant or biased instead of rediculous? You are speculating that the X will not be desired and is not desired..... but it is mindblowing that a professional would speculate" what will be desired down the road? The X sells well, why do you think it is not desired? The used ones sell well, the new ones usually do not stay on the lot long.... I just don't get that statement.

That's interesting, I bought my 8 brand new well below msrp in 04. The day I traded it in, there was a 9 on the lot & they offered it to me for 2k under msrp. The Pittsburgh area must have magical Mitsubishi dealerships or something. I say dealerships because they were two different dealerships.

I will say that the 8/9s have held value well. Who's to say that the X will not do the same? When I think back about the great evos.... I am sorry but I will always think of 6.5 or the old rally cars. Joe Nobody's evo 8,9 or X on EvoM will not even come to mind.

that is pretty awesome Evo's were selling that cheap on the East coast, or in PA. (not sarcasm)

And we do agree on the old rally cars

what happened to the TME discussion?

I was hoping this was a feeler thread for someone looking to get rid of one
