Angry WTF Mitsu?!

I did a quick search for “low” and “fluid” and didn’t come up with anything, so I thought I’d bring this up.

I’ve got about 800 miles on my Evo now and I noticed when I drive it long enough to get it all warmed up properly I’d hear a weird noise when making a sharp turn, like when pulling into a parking space. I though it was coming from the rear end but figured it was easy to check the power steering fluid level. It was low. I added about 6 ounces before the level was between the max and min marks on the dipstick. Problem solved.

Got the car all warmed up and it made the noise again! Definitely the rear end this time. Now I just checked the rear LSD and added about 5 ounces of mobile1 75W-90 to it!

Isn’t Mitsu supposed to check these things before it leaves the factory? And isn’t the dealer supposed to double check these things before the customer buys them?!

Now I’m wondering about the transfer case and the gearbox.

I've seen this posted somewhere because when I bought my car and had check all the fluids as it turned out the diffs were low. Got two responses from services guys, one said they were low, and another said there was no problems everything was topped off like it should be. Yeah right, they had my car one hour, waiting for who ever to get the right fluids.

No, this sound was more like you’d imagine how dragging something under your car would sound like. What’s more, you could sort of feel it as well.

I’m hoping it didn’t do any damage to the diff. I should really drain it completely and check for excessive metal particles in the fluid but it’s kind of cold outside. I just topped it off for now. I’m really thinking about going back out there and checking the transfer case and tranny.

The transfer case makes all kinds of funny noises and vibration when turning slowly. It too, gets better with break in (but doesn't go away completely). I gotten so used to it that I almost like it now, like you can "feel" what its doin...
