Driving Evo From NYC to LA in my EVO ix .....
Well I am relocating from NYC to LA and I am taking my evo with me... I currently own a EVO IX GSR with 79 k miles. The whole trip is a little bit under 3,000 miles ....
Has anyone completed a cross country road trip in their evo ?
If so, any suggestions ? Tips ?
Most importantly, how should I go about prepping the EVO for this journey ?
Any comments will be greatly appreciated !!

If you are close to a major service go ahead and get it done (90k in your case) if you are super paranoid. Otherwise make sure you should make sure you bring some common tools in case something happens on the trip (IC pops off, etc), jumper cables, AAA, tire pressure is good. Oil change and a bunch of 5 hour energy.
And take pics.

Cruise control would be a plus. I drove fro NY to TX twice. One time 24 1/2 hrs straight. My right knee killed me, and the next time over a two day period, it wasn't as bad. As stated above, make sure ur caught up on any required maintenance. Invest in AAA if u aren't already, and bring some music, we tend to be spoiled in NY when it comes to music, so radio selection in other parts of the states aren't as good. Good luck and take pics. Ohh and also have hotels pre selected with security cameras where u park ur car.
Have the next major service interval done on the car. After you get to CA, you will want to do an oil change at a minimum.
Do you have new tires? Get some good rain & snow tires. You will want them when going over the continental divide.
Get a CB with a weather band radio. It's better protection than a radar detector.
You should be able to cover about 800-1000 miles per day. Any more and you will be pushing the limits of your endurance unless you have a co-driver.

I did a road trip from the Jersey Shore to Cali and back a few years ago. Best trip of my life. I drove 14 hours a day on the way out there, which sucked without cruise control. Anyway, like the others said it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to change the oil once you get there. I got my oil changed in LA ($90!!). Not sure which route you are taking, but if you're taking I-80 I would stop at the last gas station near Salt Lake City to fill up before you drive through the salt flats. I filled up about 45 mins east of SLC thinking I would be fine and came close to running out in the middle of nowhere. Luckily there was a gas station once I got close to the Nevada border.
Have a blast! If you dont already have AAA, get it.
Change fluids, wiper blades and make sure your tires are up to the task and an alignment. You may want to get some mud/snow tires in case your route takes you through the snow.

Prepare your legs. Drink plenty of water, avoid salty and sugary snacks. Everything else is the basics, change your oil, rotate your tires, perform a bewst leak test, etc. The rest is just looking at the road ahead, you can pick up some decent all season tires from the major vendors that would easily get you across country, but might not get you up Pikes Peak. Good Luck, Be Safe, and Happy Hunting.
