Evo 8 Front to Evo 10 Front
Hi all,
I've been looking around but have been unable to find the info that i need about converting the front end on my Evo 8 into an Evo 10. Beside the body parts itself ie. hood, front bar, fenders. What else would i have to look into changing to be able to do this swap? or is it possible just to buy the front end body kit and put it straight on?

Well this should be an interesting thread.
First of all, you're talking about converting front ends from two COMPLETELY different platforms. It's not like an Evo 8 to 9 swap, but if you have the time and money, anything can be done. Just don't expect it to be a straight bolt on affair AT ALL.

Oh wow. This is going to be a fun read. I would guess you'd have to fabricate some mounting points for the fenders, hood and bumper to attach to. Just a cursory visual assessment will show that the dimensions of the cars are different. Then you'd have to figure out if the wheel well is in the same location in relation to the front door and if not the it and the hood will have to be modified. Or you could try swapping the front clip out. Then all you'd have to do is fab up new motor mounts, new ic piping and exhaust setup and maybe a new drive shaft if the location of the motor can't be duplicated. either way you go, it should look like poop, but I suppose its your car and you can eff it up however you want.

Agree. Yes sell you 8 and go buy an X, it will save you lots of headaches and time.

This is the kind of surgery best left to a non Evo Lancer. But if you want to have an Evo X frontal appearance on your VIII and really want to give it a try, I can't see it being difficult at all.
There are two ways to do it, 1) is to directly retro fit the Evo X front panel to the VIII sheet metal, which will be a lot of work, and may well modify the Evo VIII more than desirable. This can cause many problems such as killing the resale value, and if you have an accident also it may cause a lot of extra headaches.
2) (and how I would do it) Get an Evo X front and make a Fibre glass mold from it. Then you alter the FRP parts to fit straight onto the VIII front. More work initially, but once completed you have a sellable product you can use to recoup the $ spent. If it doesn't look crap, people will buy them, especially those who want to kit their regular Lancers.
Regarding the bonnet, just get an Evo VIII WRC replica one which will look similar to the X. Or modify an FRP VIII bonnet.

You will need a few basic items to make this happen:
*Drill
*Assorted zip-ties
*Extra large bottle of crazy glue
*Several large rolls of Gorilla tape
*Philips-head and flat-head screw drivers
That should be all you need. I wish you the best with this project. Please post pictures of your progress.

Without a doubt it can be done quite easily. Just buy the front end body kit and put it straight on.
