whuh?

i didn't catch any defroster comments. but fwiw, I have multiple chips in my windshield, plus one that slightly spidered before I could get it filled. I use my defroster like it's going out of style, and no issues for years like that.

Im new to the evo world and this may be a nooby question but i think its relevant here, do most evos come with auto-start? or would i do it after market? lol im looking at 06 model year. i figured if my car(when i get one) does the same thing in the cold, i could autostart it and let it idle for 5 mins and warm up so it will be ready to go when i get outside. I asked a friend of mine but he said no autostart because its a manual trans, but if the car is in neutral i cant see why not. But thats why im asking here before i get the car and accidentally hurt it, and if its right, maybe i can help you guys out lol

I have never owned a car with auto start. I wish i had it in my evo cause it gets hella cold where i live in the morning or at night and i hate having to sit in my car for a min or two while the engine warms up. and it takes a good 5 mins or longer of driving it around until the temp goes up. so i would love to just hit the button 5 mins before i plan on leaving and having the car all nice and warm! I would think you would need to keep the car in neutral. I'm sure theres someone here that has it on their evo. but i do know that you can have it in a stick shift car.

I have it in my evo, yes it must be in N and you just unplug your clutch switch and you don't have to press the clutch in to start.

I have tested in an open parking lot with me in the car and left it in gear and remotes started. The car starts right up and drives right along (pretty scary) when I tried to turn it off it wouldn't shut off. It would buck and jerk but keep going.

Be warned if you install it.

i have a sequence i go through every time i get out, if im on a hill or have to leave it in gear there is a switch that inhibits the remote start. so if i park it in gear i flip this little switch and it wont remote start. knock on wood... its been 2 years with no mishaps.

back on topic though

that passed few days its been warmer here in layton... has the car been starting better since its a little warmer out?

haha yeah every big storm front has a name this year and i think they will keep doing it from now on. I think its stupid. keep that to hurricanes.

On a deff matter, Does anyones evo "buck" while on the highway in 5th gear? Mine will do it from time to time but not always. It did it today once. It feels like the fuel cuts off for a split second and the car jerks. It only happens when im in 5th gear and i go to give it a little gas. It happens right before i get into boost. I was reading another thread and somebody mentioned this and other ppl said it happens to their evos. I was just bringing this up and wondering if any one in this thread has this same issue?

well yesterday my car didn't even want to start up. after about 30 tries and it wanted to crank over it finally started but felt like it was running on 3 cylinders and the rpms were a hair over 0 rpms and as soon as i hit the gas to rev it up it stalled. but started up and i just let it idle low for a 20 secs then hit the gas and it finally reved up and then idled fine. check engine light was on til tonight when i started it up fine and it was gone. i even had to jump my gf's 06 ford escape cause it didn't start up. its been in the single digits the past week and gets in the neg temps at night. so its prob just the cold weather!

I had a similar issue on my EVO 4. I replaced the ignition and battery, my IC and piping was sealed and in good condition. I leaned towards a fueling issue, as the motor would sputter at high boost as well.
