JDM evo 8 ecu? can anyone confirm this? the reason why i think so is since japan has much lenient ems standard, JDM evo is better so their ECu should be naturally be better...

Don't they also use 100 RON fuel? Why would you want to do this in the first place, JDM bug gotcha?

If I read you right, you're not looking for a stand-alone ECU replacement so much as a more optimized ECU?

You might just want to look into a reflash if that is the case.

the JDM ecu has connections for the AYC and ACD so i believe if a US Evo tried to use a JDM ecu this would cause a problem.

Has anyone actually tried (and sucessfully) gotten the JDM ECU To work on a USDM car? I heard someone had tried a Group-N(?) Rally ECU from an EVO 7, possibly got it running, but never running well..

It would be interesting to find out, however if you want to use a stock ECU (For most applications a stock ECU will serve your purposes better) then a Reflash for your mods is the way to go.

I'm a bit on the fence with aftermarket vs reflash stock ECU (and a piggyback for minor adjustment) but if your going all out, the standalone may be your best option.

I would stay away from a JDM ECU only for the simple reason that you would probably still need it reflashed to your mods, it DOES NOT HAVE OBD-II which is a requirement for some inspections in some states.

I also believe that all of the "OEM" EVO ECU's from the factory support the Immobilizer and therefore would require some form of setup to work in your car anyway.

Just my 2 cents.. I'd love to hear someone has tried it sucessfully..
