what octane does mitsu manual recommend?

what octane does mitsu manual recommend?
I'm trying to convince my dad that I can use 93 octane cuz Evo is more compatible with it than 91...so what does the manual recommend? what page is it on?

^ my dad's a mechanic so he knows for a fact that using higher octane than your car's desgined for will totally **** up your car like fuel injection system and spark plugs...thats why im only allowed to use 91 octane on my car...
I wanna somehow convince him that evo's best compatible with 93 octane since I hear that Shiv got higher numbers with 93...

Fill her up with 93, go threw the tank and right before you fill her back up again, let pops drive it to get a feel for 93 octane. Then put some 91 in and within 2 miles he'll feel the nasty difference.

basically to very generally sum up his argument...
"Higher octane = easier for gas to burn...so i dont understand how the hell you can get better mpg when your engine remains the same but when the gas is easier to burn...and you think having volatile gas shoved into the engine gives more power? thats bull****...if you want instant power, change the exhaust, intake, and reflash ECU...so you dont NEED higher octane because they only reduce mpg and does jack to ur car...not only that, your jet fuel, cam, pistone, and everything else is programmed for certain octane rating like 91...so what happens if octane is off? the gas burns too quickly before it can be taken into the engine...*goes on*"
I got some parts wrong since I dont remember exacctly what he said so mY POINT IS i just want to somehow convince him that 93 octane is best for evo without actually having to put in 93 octane...

If your dad was a *good* mechanic he'd know that higher octane in a high performance turbo engine won't harm anything. If you don't mod your engine you can get away with 91 octane. If you do anything to it, like raise boost or lean out the fuel you will detonate and the ECU will pull the timing to try and make it stop, causing a noticeable loss in performance.
As to your question, the US uses PON at the pumps (the P stands for "pump"). 91 RON = about 87 PON. Mitsubishi recommends 98 RON which equals about 94 PON.
MON = Motor Octane Number
RON = Research Octane Number
PON = Pump Octane Number, which is of course what you see listed at the gas pumps.
PON = (MON+RON/2)

So the manual DOES recommend 94 octane huh...

High Octane isn't easier to burn it's HARDER to burn, so it resists pre-detonation (knock). I'm sorry that your dad is a mechanic because those kind of ignorant people work on my car

Furthermore, octane has nothing whatsoever to do with how easy it is for the gas to burn.
