Chassis question

This question has me wondering for a while. i have always heard of high horsepower muscle cars twisting at the track. Has anyone ever twisted an evo drag racing? What about autocrossing? Is this possible and how much power is needed?

I'm sure someone more with more knowledge will provide a better answer and/or a correction to my statement, but I believe that chassis twist only affects cars with longitudinal engine mountings (crank is in line with the long axis of the vehicle). This torque is resisted by the heroic traction at the opposite end of the vehicle, so the force of the engine has nowhere to go but into the chassis through the motor mounts.

Transverse mounted engines apply their torque to the chassis at a right angle to the long axis of the vehicle, so this shouldn't happen. I suppose you could theoretically break your car in half if your transaxle could handle enough torque and the car was heavy enough.
