Nothing since but still hoping.
Thats cool. I'd be really interested in seeing some VOA's of this particular oil from Amsoil, never heard of it.. Sounds bomb proof.

Myself and a few shops that have built serious evo's go with 20/50. primarily because I drive mine hard and most people do.

dont use mobil 1 at all they used to be top of the line but with new standards in the industry they have changed their formula. I used to be in the oil industry and had a mobil rep tell me to go else where.

Slightly true (ie they changed 10w-30 & 5w-30). BUT, Mobil 1 is still a great choice for an over the counter oil. If you haven't read the last couple pages... Half the people on this forum dont need "20/50".

okay well if you use mobil 1 10w30 like most of us here do and WANT THAT HIGH ZINC, use the high mileage one instead of normal, it has over 1000 zinc/phosphorus count compared to the normal mobil 1 which is like 800. both at wally world for $25.

hahaha yep been using mobil 1 in my evo with the stock 9 turbo since 48k miles till this day at 121k miles, always mobil 1 10w30 high mileage (change every 2,500-3k miles) never a problem with anything, run e85 daily now and i put down roughly 440/380. IF ALL YOU'RE DOING IS DAILY DRIVING WITH WOT EVERY OTHER DAY LIKE ME, MOBIL 1 WILL SUIT YOU JUST FINE. i understand that there are better oils out there for racing purposes (I use redline 15w50 to keep oil temps lower during track days) but like i said no need for a fancy $50 DD oil that you're just going to change every 3k miles, IMO Mobil 1 high mileage will do the job

Here's the chart for Mobil 1 oils, maybe I'll try their 15w50, it've seen it at wally world for $25 as well and it has the highest zinc content of them all. http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...duct_Guide.pdf

This is a very bold accusation. How are you sure mobil 1 is what caused your turbo failure? Do you have proof? Mitsubishi has been reccomending Mobil 1 since the launch of the Evolution in 1992. Do you really think they are going to reccomend something that inst going to work properly with their car?

I will agree there are better oils then mobil 1 which isn't a full syn but for a stock car thats not pushed perfectly fine. I run royal purple 10w30 and change every 2500 miles, but I also push my car regularly and run much higher then factory boost.

Actually, Mobil 1 is not synthetic at all. Refiners had finally achieved the technology to extract the same oil as synthetic from mineral oil and it was cheaper to do so. So, they sold it packaged as synthetic oil. Talk about a money making deal. Not so fast said the lawyers – you can't be calling this synthetic oil. Well, the judge wasn't convinced, he ruled anything that is the same can go by the same name.

Same here, I live in AK but I run 5W-30 all year round and have no issues. 20W-50 seems absurd.

Not true. High mileage has less than 1000 ppm of ZDDP. More like 900ppm, according to VOA's posted on BITOG.. But all in all, its definitely a great oil and even better choice than the traditional 5w-30 mobil for sure. Again, the Mobil 1 oil that has the highest ZDDP is 0w-40, of course excluding the V-twin formulas and their racing formulas (15w-50)..
