I think that position is going to be pretty hard to look at when you need to look at it. But that may depend on height I suppose if your really tall maybe it doesn't matter.

i don't think this will work in the evo. the mirror is much higher in our cars.

Old now, but I thought I would finalize the idea. doesn't fit, not enough space with the way the mirror is fitted higher, and no fabrication would make it fit without being in line of sight. Oh well haha.
