who makes a good effective 3" resonator?

So gotten a few loud exhaust tickets now, I'm no cat or anything 3" all the way. So since I have a JDM Rear, I'd prefer to keep my current exhaust and just make it quieter. Does anyone know of a good narrow 3" resonator/silencer I can order and just have a shop weld it in?

any suggestions appreciated!

Vibrant 1142 resonator.

However the only way to make your exhaust quiet is to put the stock catback on it and do an electronic cutout

dynomax and magnaflow make great resonators.

it will take out the throatiness of the exhaust but not the volume much.

You might want to look into adding another muffler, not a resonator.

ok, second muffler suggestions then? Essentially I just like the look of my exhaust as it's sits, but open to a second muffler installed under the car.

I used a megan resonator where the cat sits on my invidia cat back and it quieted it down a bit.

Honestly, I don't think this is something you should spend too much money or too much time looking at. I'd just go down to my local muffler shop - I look for the greasy grimiest one that has a bunch of old hot rods/domestics around it and ask one of those guys what to do. Should be able to get an inline resonator/straight thru muffler cut in up stream for about $100.

I agree with not spending a lot of $$ the megan resonator is $75 and 100% bolt on

^THIS

I have a full 3" TBE from Vishnu and I love the sound ! BUT, now that I'm older, I'm SICK of the drone I get at various speeds (especially my wife!)....I called around and found a great muffler shop that can weld in a resonator for $120 + tax. I have yet to do the install but plan on in the next month or so. I'll post up my results once its complete...before and after sound clips to share.

I don't want to have to search and search and spend $500 on a new catback or a cheapo ebay one and quiet that one down....I like my exhaust and the look too....just not the drone.

yeah just my muffler shop didn't have a 3" muffler, and another I called didn't either, so I feel this is something I gotta find on my own and take to the shop.

I dont know what brand it is but the AMS exhaust systems resonator is the best! It makes the car scream at high rpms and is virtually corolla sounding at idle. Yes I took my muffler off just to test how good the resonator was.

I have the Megan resonated test pipe. It's inexpensive and bolts right up. Or get a Magnaflow or Vibrant muffler you can have welded at the mid pipe. Make sure you get a perforated muffler, not a louvered muffler (act like a cork).

Trust me. I live in CA. Megan test pipe + Magnaflow catback(oval muffler) = stock looking and not too loud.
