EMail Tune - Mellon vs English Racing

I now have my tactrix cable and aem afr logging cable. I would like to hear you guys thoughts on this topic. I don't want any bashing just logical and factual reasons why one is better than the other - (techniques, history, experience, features etc.) I will be doing e85 with FIC 1050 and kelford 272s. A pretty basic build here. I've done my research but have not heard any strong opinion either and especially directly comparing the two and their expertise. I just want to make sure I get the best tune and treatment for my money.

I would go with English over Mellon any day of the week. I tried Mellon once a few years ago (2007) and was not impressed.

You're not really likely going to be able to see any comparisons. I doubt anyone got a tune from Aaron and then said eh I think Ill hit up Mellon for a tune now or vice versa lol.

So you'll either get people who went to one or the other, many saying zomfg _____ is best tooner evar.

With that said, I went with Aaron. With his tune, from across the country, the car always drove and idled flawlessly on E85 or 93 with 2150cc injectors. He's incredibly knowledgeable, very down to earth and cool to talk to. Id say we did about 8 or 9 logs/tunes back and forth.

You'll not go wrong with either.

Though my .02 I'd 100% choose Aaron from English Racing. Those guys have done and still do so much testing and data analysis for our community it's silly.

Plus I'm quite sure that Aaron could tune an EVO unconscious

That guy knows his **** PERIOD

I was tuned by Mellon in 2009 with a basic bolt IX. It was a good experience. He was quick to reply and at the time, the tunes were cheaper. Although the prices now are still good. The car ran flawless, which it should of anyway with such a low mod list.

Fast forward 3 years and I now have an FPBlack VIII. I am in the talks with English Racing right now to get a remote tune. So unfortunately I can't give a comparasion at the moment, but you can't go wrong with either. They are both well established in the community.

Aaron is one of the best tuner that I known of. Very knowledgable guy and extremely down to earth guy. Anything from big block boosted v8 to 4g63 he had experience with. I can't tell how much he had helped me with sd tunes in the past few years.

Based on what I see results and knowledge wise on this forum, i'd choose Aaron @ English.

I have not been tuned by either them.

Aaron & English Racing all day. I cant compare the 2, but I have been tuned by Aaron a few times now throughout my build and have always been impressed.

Aaron's contributions' to the forums, are among the best here on EVOm. His knowledge and insight about EFI tuning and engine building are phenomenonal (ie just look at their results in the Dyno section) .. Not bashing Mellon at all, but I'd go with Aaron @ English Racing.

Ive never been tuned by either.

Both of these are good choices when using Eflashes. I have no experience with Mellon other than seeing cars he has tuned and results on here. I don't recall any bad reviews for either of them though. My experience with ER is also limited but I did have an issue a few years back with emissions (ER did not tune the car, another shop did and I made changes) and needed something fixed overnight. Aaron told me to email my map to him, he fixed it and emailed it back hours later FREE OF CHARGE! Amazing customer service for someone who is not a customer of his.
Sorry I'm not more help. P.S. Neither of these shops will tune your car for free haha

Great replies thanks for the feedback. I have heard alot of good things about ER and Mellon alike. A friend of mine was at an event in KC Mo where Mellon was doing some road tuning. Anyways he was trying to get my buddies evo X running smoothly he had id 2200s/e85 and Mellon just wasn't able to do it; even calling another person asking if they knew of any ideas. Long story short he ended up saying it was the injectors, although they were brand new - He took it to a different (dyno) tuner in South Dakota and bam got it up and running and is still on that tune today running fine. This was in 2009 or so, maybe those issues are worked out. Please don't take this is as flaming - just what my friend experienced first hand. My build is far less serious, so I am not as concerned with this story but it may be something to keep in the back of my mind.
