How long have you had this car? Are you familiar with all of the mods on it? How long have you been driving stick?

Reasons I ask is... you may have a no lift to shift mod that you are activating on accident.

On the Evo there is a Tephramod you can have done that many cars have installed that sets an artificial rev limiter when the clutch pedal is depressed. This enables you to leave your foot on the gas pedal, and not have to "lift" to shift.

If the car has launch control... it's likely that it has this as well.

Do some reading... ask some questions, and try not to blow yourself up. The Evo has one of the most difficult clutch/transmissions to drive out there.

but what would the no lift to shift have to do with popping and shooting fire *****?

yeah defiantly i will push aside getting coil overs and get it dyno tuned and checked out so i know everything i need with whats done with it, and NOT blow it up itll be to soon..

Depending on your tune, and depending on what RPM you engaged it at this isn't abnormal.

was it raining bad when you experienced this misfire? Reason i ask is because if it was and you are getting alot of water into the intake then that could cause for a misfire. Another possibility is that you have a leak or crack in your uicp or coupler by the intercooler and will experience a misfire.

Water getting into the engine is "generally" bad, but what you're describing probably doesn't qualify. I'm actually trying to think of how this would happen with your setup because the ARC intake is still where the stock intake is?

I think you'll be just fine...
