i found a evo 8 but the transmission is broken,he say he would sell it for 9500 cash.
my question is how much would a new transmission cost, the dent doesn't bother me because it is an easy fix.

Welcome. I would suggest doing quite a lot more research before pulling the trigger on an Evo.

There's plenty of information available on this topic, and prices vary depending on what exactly you and he mean by "broken".

 

Seems a little much to me for a car that you can't drive away in. Why is the tranny trashed? If he drove it hard and did not take care of it who knows what else is wrong with it.
If I were you, I would think about what you really want. If paying for a new tranny is about the same as finding a different evo in the same price range then I would walk away.

However if you are planning on going all out and tearing into it then see if you can get the price down as low as possible. Also money talks. Wave the green in the face if you decide you need this one.

This, whos is to say the Tcase and ACd system isnt trash since the Trans is busted. If its not repairable that means Cracked case. a Used 5 speed can be had for 1k, rebuild add another 800 or so. But lets say other issues arrise with the drive train Since you cant drive it you wont know till the trans is fixed,Clutch 600-1.5k, Tcase 1-2k And hows the engine? Needs a new bumper too lol. Could be a headache just saying
Personally id be more around 6k for that particular car.

 

As you can imagine, there are a significant number of parts in a transmission, and the Evo has more than one item that can be described broadly as a "transmission".

If you want to know how much it's going to cost you to rebuild a transmission, and you don't want to search for transmission shops that specialize in Evo's, then i would suggest calling whatever transmission shop you plan on having the work done at, and ask them.

+1...Also if tranny is shot Tcase and LSD arent probably in good condition either...get it fully looked at first.
