Well i have this evo imported from japan, actually it has an evo 2 skirt and bumper but have an evo 3 rear wing. i look at the chassis# its a CE9A, now i know its really an evo 3, but is there a big difference in engine and performance between evo 2 and 3

No theres not. The big difference in performance and engine was between the 1 and 2. The differences between the 2 and 3 were mainly cosmetic.

I've got a whole book on differences between the Evo Lancers all the way up to the 7.

Not much difference between engines in the evo2 and 3, only major difference is the compression ratio. Evo2 = 8.8:1 evo3= 9.0:1.

As for the evo3 and 95 lancer, the engine and gearbox should all bolt up.

It's just getting the rear diff in that causes a problem, as the fuel tank in the lancer will be sitting right where the diff should be and also the chassis itself needs to be modified to fit the rear diff.

Also I think the evo3 chassis will be stronger than the lancer chassis.

Fitting the evo3 stuff into the regular lancer can be done but it will required a lot of work and money.

Agreed. Pulling stuff out of a GSR and replacing it with Evo bits is easy, but going from FWD to 4WD will cause you problems that may not be worth the effort.

No, what the guy said earlier is wrong. CD9A is Evo I only. CE9A is Evo III and III.

That car is definitely an Evo I.

The year of registration is not 1994 either. The licence plate is a K registration (starts with K) which is for cars registered between August 1992 and August 1993.

evo 1 and 3 have similar internals
evo 3 has a better turbo than 1 and 2
evo 2 can run higher boost it loves it
evo 3 has a different ecu to evo's 1 and 2

and for those who think that the evos have forged pistons they dont... i dunno bout the later models but 1,2 and 3 wise none have forged pistons
