Brownish color coolant
In general, white means lean, while brownish/ gold ---> black distinguish's if the engine is running a normal AFR to a rich AFR.
2. You mentioned that you've only had this car for a short time. How did you check to see if there was coolant present in your oil? Did you do an oil change, or did you check via the dipstick? Because you're going to want to do an oil change either way since you don't appear to know the history of the car. I might even suggest an oil analysis, but thats on you.
3. If the coolant in the reservoir is odd colored, I'd want to know why. The FIRST thing that comes to mind is... someone has put the wrong coolant in the car. This may not be it, but I'd probably change it anyway. Read... change it. I don't believe in flushing.
If there IS a problem, or some debris kicked up or whatever, then this would only help.
When you say that the coolant in the rad looks fine, there could also be a blockage somewhere within the radiator that is isolating fluid, so you'd need to realistically start with checking the oil, by changing it, and the I'd probably change the coolant as well.

1. There are millions of reasons for a plug to foul, and foul can mean a million things. If you type "How to diagnose spark plugs" into google, you'll find a myriad of information including pictures, that, as they say, will be worth a thousand words.
