Comparing our AWD to the STI
Is there system better and ours more of a FWD setup? What about in snow/wet which is superior? Im not talking about jdm/euro spec.
To answear your first Q, yes! Our cars are based on a fwd platform, they have symmetrical awd. Which is superior I dont know, what I do know is out of a lot of comparisons that Ive seen on Youtube the Evo handles alot better. Somebody that owns both or has owned an Sti should tell you better.

Lol no biased opinions(sty). The sti has the edge in dirt for a reason, but exactly what is the reason? What about snow and rain
The Subbies AWD system is superior.
I read up some where that the subbie wrx/sti was built around the AWD system (suspension)and that the engine and everything was placed where it benifits the system set-up. I will try to locate the article because it had some good *** info in it. I think it was in a DSPORT mag but i will verify. Below is a quick link i found on subbies AWD system.

In my Opinion, from reading differnt articles about differnt time trials, I have come to my own conclussion that if the STI had a more lets say "gifted" engine there would be alot different results than what we see today.

the subie does understeer alike a fwd car and its steering is VERY loose (owned both 07 STi and currently evo 9) compared to the evo which is much more agile, responsive, and quick. In the snow i preferred the STi, but mine had nearly stock suspension compared to my evo which has a track set up so i believe the stiffness made driving more difficult on a slippery surface. in the dry and on the track however its no comparison.

I would say, yes in my opinion. BUT...differnt cars and different specs. I doubt this will be proven though. The STI engine seems to lack a bit of higher end power but makes up for it in different areas.
Either way the STIs AWD system was built from the ground up and subaru's specialties are AWD. I dont think I can think of a car they have that is not AWD besides the new BRZ which is rear wheel drive.
- I bought an evo for the all out potential the engine has in its stock form
- My best friend bought a WRX for the AWD potential and the unique sexy voice they sing.

Well I cant make that assumption. I havent had alot of experience driving both cars to their potential. Heres some insight on the new evo X and the new Subbie STI.
Both of the cars are rivals. One is A Fwd-based and the other is Symmetrical Based. Both hold records.

Ooo I just remebered that subbie has a WRX STI Spec C which is supposedly one of the best models with the greatest handling they offer from the factory.

You'd be nieve to think a cars drivetrain platform is solely based on its handling characteristics oversteer vs understeer. You can get FWD cars to oversteer and RWD cars to understeer all day based on its suspension.
And for the record, general cars sold to the public are designed to understeer and go straight for safety, 98% of the population are not trained in driving dynamics, people crash these type of cars too often as it is.
Hope that sheds some light
