This is what I told you a few days ago. Do not go by the TDO # on the housing all that is is just what size the housing is. What is important is take your serial # off the original turbo, and match it up to the one you got from your buddy. There are a bunch of different 16g turbos for that model/year car. Just for that year along they made the small 16g, which had the tdo4 housing, the big 16g which had a tdo5 housing and a tdo5 housing evo3. All that isn't important what is important is the serial # on the mhi serial tag. Here is what you need to check for

Small 16G
49178-01520
49178-05200

Big 16G
49178-01420

Evo I Big 16G
49178-01450

Evo II Big 16G
49178-01460

Evo III Big 16G
49178-01470

Cursed Once again thank you so much for the fast reply. The number on my turbo is 49178-01030. My car is not by my house so I don't have access to check it.

I just did a quick search online. It appears that this is the 14b turbo. I have a quick question. Will this turbo bolt right up or will it require modification? Can I use the same lines from my old turbo on this one. I am not worried about power right now I just want a turbo on the car to get it running, or will I have to do modifications to get the turbo to fit?

Yes it will bolt right up its the same housing. The 14b is way way smaller then the stock evo3. You will have to tune the car to it being max power on them is like 200 250 whp tops. Being you have more injector then you need that maybe a problem. I know people may argue but max psi you should run with pump or e85 is about 18 to 20 psi tops. I have a buddy who I believe is #4 or 5 on the fastest 14b list and he pushes it at 24 lbs and just cant hold on.

Yeah your right that's why I told him to check the serial #. Seems what he got was a stock 14b off an eclipse.

Ok thanks. Like i said this turbo is temporary until I can get my hands on something bigger. I just wanted to make sure that it would bolt right up.

Thanks again guys.

Guys bumping this thread. I got my hands on a pretty good 16g turbo. I have a quick question do anybody have any good experience with ebay head studs and bolts? I am deciding whether I should re use my head bolts (mechanic says they dont look stretch) or use these BNIB Ebay head boltss. ARP's are not an option here..?

I understand your situation but I will say that ebay parts in general are a bad idea. Unless they are arp studs from an ebay seller that would be different. For as much time and money as you spent on the car so far, a set of cheap bolts or reuse old stock bolts aren't that great of an option either. If I were in a pinch and I could not get arp head studs I would reuse the old head studs. Keep in mind though your boost is gonna be limited due to the pressure inside the motor and those will stretch out over 20 lbs. of boost.

Just because the bolt doesn't give any visual indication of "stretching" doesn't mean it isn't stretched. Bottom line is if the head bolts were torqued down correctly when installed, the metal was fatigued beyond its limits and will not be able to maintain the same compression when reinstalled. Will it fail? There is no way to know until you try. It is a gamble like anything else in life. If it were me and my boosted engine I would install NEW quality head bolts and not used studs or cheap eBay studs as it's most likely a total crapshoot as to the metallurgical makeup of cheap stuff (e.g. inconsistent clamping ability). Just my 2 cents.

Best of luck with the repairs.

I agree with you on this but I think what worrys him is he is in an area where he cannot get that stuff locally and I know that is what he is tring to do. Being he has to pay extra for dutys and what nots I think that he is tring to keep it to a minimum.

Even if they came off ebay? I mean I use to get all my stuff off there till they stopped being good deals. But if a shop sells regular ARP stuff on ebay I can't see it being that much even with customs? Its not like your going L19 or H11 head studs ya know.
