e85 evo?

What problems do evo 9s run in when they are making 400-430awhp and 380wtq on stock turbo tranny nd clutch tcase on e85 gas? Can the stock clutch handle that power okay or will it start slipping?

yes you will need to get a better clutch. The stock clutch will handle it for a little bit, but not for long.

bad launching and things like that can destroy your tcase even with stock power.plenty of ppl have 500hp on stock drivetrain without any problems.upgrading the clutch is a must not even for e85 but on regular gas if you planning bigger numbers.i run on e85 on stock internal and drivetrain, have ACT clutch, making 370 whp.

I have stock internals, stock drivetrain, stock clutch, and I've been fine at 389whp for 15k miles over 2 years

i make 430/380 and i have an ACT HDSS which is a perfect clutch for this power. Also the stock drivetrain can handle much more power, as others said, it just depends if you know how to drive your car correctly. Also just be sure to stay on top of your drivetrain fluid maintenance and you should be fine

I've been working on supporting mods before I up the power that much. The stock t-case can blow up with factory power depending on how you treat it and how much you launch. I got an Exedy twin disk, and a stage 2 Shep t-case w/ a Wavetrac coming in the mail. I'll be installing them along with a list of parts I have waiting to go in I won't be at my goal power-wise, but I'll have the supporting mods already when I get there

^this. I also have the same clutch with stock drivetrain...443 whp on a dynapack. Everything is fine and no need to worry so long as you treat the car with respect.

My stock clutch might have even been fine...but I decided to upgrade since it was getting some other mods at the time...

I have the same question, but i'm more worried about the block. Mainly seeing rods go through blocks with even just 400hp (E85/cams/injectors/tbe/intake/walbro255) which is the build I have, but only have the tbe and intake installed.

My main concern is blowing up the block since I DD my evo, and i know that not everyone blows them up and people have made more power without problems, so i'm wondering is it in the driving? Spark plug going bad? Injector? Also head studs would be installed too. I only asked because my buddy sent his rod through the block after only a few weeks on e85 =\

I held 380wtq (mustang dyno) all last season on a stage 1 Exedy without a problem. I drag raced it at least once a week last season, each day making around 5-7 passes on average and it still holds.

It all depends on how you drive your car..... I doubt the stock clutch will last.

HP isn't going to kill you're engine, its the torque that will bend your rods. As a rule of thumb you don't want to go above 400 wtq on a stock internal car, it also depends on how aggressively the torque comes on in the low end....again though i'm sure they're people that have ran more tq and been fine, its just a "safe zone" if you will.

In the end there are so many variables that can shorten the life of your motor. Just search this site and you'll pretty much have all your questions answered.

A good tune should take your worrys about the fuel out of the way. I have been driving my car 2 plus years beating the life out of it and I am fine and no worrys at all about the block going up.
