I park in a garage in the burbs at night. During the day I work in the city but I park my car directly in front of my store so I can see it all day long. I thought about the flatbed thing but using a different ecu, wow, I guess you have to be a thief to think like that. Unless someone tells you about that. I do have an alarm but I always gave the immobilizer too much credit. Thanks for the heads up blown. I guess if all else fails I have my lowjack to fall back on

2003 Silver Evo with SSL. Not sure if he posted it elsewhere.

If I see those fockers around my home, there will be hell to pay.
As others have stated Orlando seems to be the new Chicago

FYI no such thing as an 03 SSL. I'm guessing it was an 04 based on the username

Nonetheless, I hope he finds it in one piece and the people who keep steeling them are found as well.

They tore the crap out of the steering column and the wiring harnesses and everything and got NOWHERE due to the immobilizer. Is there some trick to get around this security feature that I am unaware of?
15 min read in the right threads and so much for immobilizer theory. Like I said not much of a "professional" is needed to steal an evo now a days.

just a fancy, expensive kill switch...$5 and a trip to radioshack would net you similar results.

^That. A very good alarm system and other anti-theft devices should be enough to deter a thief.

But I guess if they really want your car their gonna get it

That looks like a thief can just take the tire off and throw another on the car and bypass that whole piece altogether, or am I not seeing it right?

They could cut that thing off there in a few seconds. The guys stealing these evos are obviously stalking them. It's not like they just saw it in the middle of the night like a stereo theif. You could deter the ECU thing with a fuel pump switch, but that's probably just annoying.

+1 on the layered security. Make it a pita to steal.....of course if they have a flatbed then its all irrelevant. If they want it bad enough.....they'll get it.
