I'm also going from a **** eBay manifold the previous owner had to a JDL so don't know if numbers would be accurate for Recirc vs VTA.

welcome to the twilight zone:!~ I agree with you man the open dump is brutal. It makes the sound like its broken.. some guys love it some hate it... im forsure into a recirc setup... i really wish somebody would chime in that has tried both...

Guys if it makes you feel any better, I've got both.

I'm currently running the stocker, and plan to start with the dump. If it's too loud, I'll throw the megan on.

I'm not certain I'll have the time to yutz about with the swapping on the dyno though... I'm trying to get things ready for epic road trip to Pikes Peak via Evo.

But there are seriously a TON of threads about this throughout all sorts of car forums... ours included.
