Evo 8 No start - Problem found and fixed

Here is my no start issue... hope I can gain some knowledge on this.

The car started up fine and was driving great... then I was coasting to a stop light and it died, felt almost like it was flooded. Tried to re-start and it would crank all day long but wouldn't kick over.
As I started to diagnose I checked for fuel and spark... I had fuel but no spark. So I pulled my codes and it threw a P0340. Then I went about replacing the sensor, after that didn't work I replaced the sensor housing per tsb (this tsb was for the Lancer I am guessing as the part specified was way off) After getting the correct cam shaft sensor support housing I still had a no start, however the code has not come up again.
My mechanic did some more digging around, some head scratching, and a few wiring diagrams later he came up with the problem... my coil packs aren't getting any power. He used a powerprobe to send power to the coil packs and it started like a charm. The 10amp fuse in the block under the dash is fine so he narrowed the problem down to the wiring between the fuse block and the coil pack itself.
The questions I have are, has anyone come across this before? If so where would be the most likely spot to check for a wiring fault? And I seem to be illiterate when it comes to wiring diagrams, where does this wire get routed through to the coil packs?

Seems to be a very common issue. Mine is when the temp gets a little warmer outside. One guy found that his starter solenoid wire wasn't getting enough voltage sometime to start car. The problem is definitely in the wiring under the dash. I know with some other issues that involve everything being grounded at one bolt. Whoever finds the main solution to this is gonna be a champ

I am curious now... has anyone who has done a wire tuck of any kind had this issue or any other wiring related issues??? My problem doesn't seem to be intermittent starting, my coil packs are not getting any power from the fuse block causing my no start.

I was able to figure it out. I learned way more about wiring than I think I cared to know and I think I have come to a harsh realization, I am going to do a wire tuck.

My problem lied in the infamous C129 wire harness connector under the drivers kick panel. When I got the car it had previously had a band-aid (at best) put on the wires to resolve the corroded connectors. I cleaned them up and made them a little neater under the dash just for peace of mind. While I was digging around with this issue last year, I noticed there was one wire that had been de-pinned from C129 on the female side but the male side was still there. The car still started and ran so I left the wires as they were and went on. The gremlin snuck up on me again! That wire that had been de-pinned was the direct power lead going to the coil packs. How my car has been running all this time is baffling I spliced the two and bypassed the connector and it fired right up. Evos...
I did find one other interesting thing about the wiring and I am curious if my Evo is the only one like this... If you look real close at the back side of the connectors where the wires go into in it will have numbers to correspond with the wiring diagrams in the FSM. Well I noticed that mine were upside down from what the manual has them numbered, all the wires still go to the wires they are supposed to but it looks like they assembled the wire harness incorrectly. I don't think this alone would cause issues but I just found it curious. If anyone has the desire to take a look at theirs and post up results that would be awesome.

Hope all this helps anyone out, cheers

Good find! My last evo would do the exact samething! I use to hate summer because of it.
